CGEM polar aliment

Hi I seem to be having problems polar aligning my CGEM DX . Very briefly, this is what I do. firstly set up facing north, power on, two star aliment, that seems ok, then I go for the polar aliment, the scope undertakes the aliment on capella in the west, and not on Polaris, then I adjust via RA/DEC , once that’s done I press align and, I get the message, aliment successful.

But in fact it’s not, it’s way,way out, I did talk to Steve B and Martin, at FLO and Steve said try undertaking a second star ailment, so Martin sold me a polar scope,(thanks mate) but I would like to learn to do it without the polarscope, to make shore the CGEM is ok (before I ask Martin for a big fat refund, only joking) any help or advise pls
