ok so i have just stacked my data the 1st one with darks and the second without i seem to be able to get better detail in the one without the one with he darks seems to have increased in noise? any ideas why i cant get as much detail in the one with darks?

It's pretty hard to see anything because the scaling on the images is different. I think you might not be seeing as much detail in the first simply because the black level of the image is set higher (meaning the faint structure all gets set to black). Can you post two images making sure they have the same scaling level? that will be easier to compare.

The hot pixels are certainly more visible in the second (non-dark) image, so the darks are doing something right at least

If the darks were taken, for instance, at a slightly higher temperature they will be too aggressive and black clip the image.
