cleaning out the worms

I have a venerable old Fullerscope MkIV

It has a homebrew stepper driver fitted, and over the weekend I used Phd guide to log the Periodic Error..... 15 arc seconds peak to peak... but very roughly and not that consistant cycle to cycle (so PEC isn't going to fix it), This explains why I've found I need to run very fast guiding updates. I could spend a long time cleaning out the worms and refitting, strenghtening the worm mounting improving the motor mounting etc.

Question is has someone has done soemthing similar to say an EQ6 and what improvements did they see?

Derek
