Inferior coating on new eyepiece?

Recommended Posts

I just bought a new Spears-Walter eyepiece. Looking at the botton lens I noticed small pinpoint reflected speckles across the surface. My Tele-Vue and ES doesn't show this. Nice and clean sheen. Although I don't think it will effect the performance, maybe it will the resell value. Is this a problem I should contact the dealer about ? Pat

Hi Pat. I have three Speers Walers. If the reflected speckles are not removable with gentle persuasion with a good camel hair or similar paint brush (artists no 7 or thereabouts) and if they don't appear to move position if you rotate the eyepiece whilst examining it,I would suggest you do contact your dealer.
