help with konustart 900

Recommended Posts

Perhaps not the best and most informed reply. But given no others have responded...

I haven't ever used one of these scopes. But a general comment on scopes of this sort is that it is better to save and put the money into something else.

Hope this helps.

The scope appears to be a 60mm refractor, with a 900 focal length.

With that specification you are limited on aperture, although it should be a useful little scope for quick viewing.

All you could really improve is the eyepieces, being f/15 a reasonable plossl will work good.

I wouldn't consider less then a 12mm or 10mm eyepiece.

This assumes that you do not already have anything like these.

That is about the only sensible upgrade.

One proviso is that I cannot tell if the eyepieces are 1.25" ones or the older 0.965"

If 0.965" then best advice is to simply forget upgrades.

Ultimately I would say that you would be better off keeping any money and getting something like a 150P dobsonian.

A quick google revealed it comes with the Huygenian eyepieces, the most basic type, and has a standard 1.25 inch focuser. So new eyepieces should help, have a look at the sticky in this forum for advice on the ones to get.

As a small refractor, it's always going to be a bit limited, but at f/15 there should be next to no false colour at least.
