Is it worth it??

Recommended Posts

I was thinking of getting an eq5 mount with an r/a drive installed and begin with AP. But I have a 125mm reflecting telescope and I was wondering if the mount is worth the cost for my telescope. I mean I don't know if I will get satisfactory results from my telescope. I need your help. Please do advise me.

I understand the reasoning behind what you say, but the bottom line is, that without a good basic mount, like an RA driven EQ5 series, good imaging for DSO may not be possible because of the long exposure factor. What scope you use is then the second part of the equation, a 125mm reflector should give quite rewarding results, if correctly mounted and adequately guided, which of course, is the basis of all good imaging, Should you want further detailed information, you would be better posting in the imaging section where you will find many dedicated followers to the dark art and they will be able to provide more indepth answers to your inquiries :(
