Mars at Opposition - 3 March 2012

Got a fairly decent view of Mars last night in my 12" scope. Seeing was not so great - about AIII - AIV. Cycled through some colour filter options and decided that I best liked the view that my neodymimum gave.

This was sketched at 22.30UT with a CM of 223 degrees, which is not much different from my previous sketch on the 1st. Detail is not so well defined though.

The standout feature for me was the brightened area in Elysium. I did not see it so bright on the 1st. I also seemed to get a couple of vague prongs of material moving south from Utopia.
