Photographing the Milky Way

Good evening. I'm looking at purchasing a new camera but have limited funds. I'm looking at bridge cameras and 2 have caught my eye.

In May i'm having a 2 week holiday in Tenerife and will be doing the night time Mount Teide tour and would like to get the chance to photograph the Milky Way if it's visible.

I'm considering the Fuji HS20 (£240) or the Panasonic FZ45 (£240). The Fuji has a maximum 30 second exposure and the Panasonic has a maximum 60 second exposure.

So is 30 seconds long enough to get a good picture or should I go for the one that give the 60 seconds??

So confusing ;)

Thanks for reading

Derek ;)
