Off on holiday soon

Due to my work I've not had nearly enough evenings/nights out as I'd have liked so haven't been around as much as I'd have liked but I did get an hour out with a new camera (Cheapo Bridge) which can be found here.

Anyway onto my point of posting as I have to take the last of my holidays I'm off for a week on Thursday (and about time too) so I'm planning, as her indoors isn't off untill the weekend, to do an evening of viewings somewhere really dark in Scotland (possibly northern England) if the weather is good and I'd like some suggestions.

If anyone knows any specific sites that are close to a road and relatively quiet as I've found a couple in Galloway forrest via streetview and also near Loch Rannoch too. I don't mind travelling as Galloway is about 2 1/2 hours from me in West Scotland area as is Loch Rannoch.
