Robb1
I have a 800x80mm reflector telescope reduced from £100 to £40 (im on a budget)Can you get better quality viewing if you buy a good quality eyepiece or will a cheap telescope give bad viewing no matter the eyepiece? John
The eyepieces supplied with scopes are generally the weakest link so upgrading them, within reason, will at least show what the scope can actually achieve. You will need to spend around £20-£30 per eyepiece though - below that and you are back to the standard of the supplied eyepieces to be honest. E621Keith
Generally the advice for budget less than £100 is to get a pair of 10x50 binocular, which often have much better optics that 'telescope' in this price range.Since you've got that telescope already. I'd suggest getting a few decent plossl (e.g. Vixen NPL or GSO plossl) to get the most out of your scope. If that is too expensive, then look for some Kellners. A £40 scope is cheaper than many 'budget' eyepieces, which give you an indication of the scope's quality. That scope would have came with Huygen or even plastic eyepieces, so even Kellner will be a great improvement.
