Our skies all...

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I can empathise with you with regards to light pollution as I also live within merseyside which is just as bad.

When I go to a dark site I tend to go just over the welsh border in Denbighshire.

The Denbigh moors are pretty dark. as is the area around loggerdeads although not as good as high up on the moors due to Denbigh and the coastal towns of Rhyl and Prestatyn.

Try this link for more ideas :)

Alternatively for darker skies you need to head towards Snowdonia national park.

Mjr Tom... thanks for your informative reply... Manchester isn't the place to view our wonderful skies much like where you live too... I went to Wales a couple of years ago for a few days & saw a magnificant sky so clear... just wish I had my scope back then! Thanks for your link shall check it out this eve... Snowdonia national park sounds like my place to be... :)

Im going to have to google these fantastic sounding areas... Snowdonia is mind sticking though for me right now... although it may take me 10 trains, 4 buses & a heavy scope to get there... that said it doesn't dishearten me at all... :):icon_eek:
