Image upload Question

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I have recently uploaded my first pics to SGL and am having an issue with them appearing way too big when viewed. Someone suggested adjusting the canvas size before saving in PSE....when I do this, the picture becomes clipped and they are ending up all over the place lol.

So can anyone help with basics of image/canvas sizing in PSE7 please :D.

Although there has been little post processing (still discovering that too!), I cropped them as I wanted and look fine when viewing 'normally' on my pc but on here they become too zoomed and pixelated etc.

Cheers Ed

I've not taken any astro photography, but I do use image processing a lot and I'd reckon it's best to keep your original photo as is then create a second file which is more upload friendly (maybe 800 pixels wide, or whatever).

Resizing the canvas will chop bits of either side to get to the new size (bad!). You'll want to crop out anything unnecessary then resize the image (not the canvas) to keep everything intact.

Not sure of the actual menu's though as I use GIMP rather than Photoshop.

Thanks Ronnie

You are right, canvas resizing messes things up and clips too much, managed to save with reduced image size but still - on here they are crazy big lol. I'll keep plugging away. Thanks again for your feedback
