Jupiter still fuzzy for you?

Recommended Posts

Had a good half hour looking at the moon last night with my new 150 dob and it looked stunning, but Jupiter? well at 120x it was okish but although I could see the two bands it was still fuzzy. Anything higher was rubbish. I am using the the standard 10mm eyepiece that came with it so praps thats it, Did anyone else in the West Midlands get a good view?

I live in wolves and had superb views of the moon last night. High cloud sort of took the glare away and gave me crystal clear views of the surface. I didn't bother looking at jupiter as I thought the cloud and LP would stop me seeing it in all its glory. I've just had a new 200p dob so want to save looking at jupiter for a cystal clear night.

The seeing over much of the UK was probably poor last night due to the jetstream position right overehad and two fronts (occluded and warm) banging off each other to the east and west.

Logged the seeing in Edinburgh as very poor last night (pickering scale 1) and indeed Jupiter was fairly rubbish. at x160 I was catching fleeting glimpses only of any detail other than the main 2 bets on my 8in dob.

Lunar detail was moderate but I tried it at x320 with the barlow and it was a mess. in fact even DS objects seemed to be suffering at x50.

Marco.
