Hi !

Has any one used a skywatcher EQ3 or EQ5 motor for barndoors ? any idea on the RPM for the EQ3 or EQ5 motors ?

Hi there the EQ5 uses stepper motors so you can make it any RPM you want by adjusting the number of steps ect.

Not sure if this helps much but I made some notes some time ago for eq6 motors and drive electronics / handbox

My notes say that the synta stepper motor and the gear box at normal speed is 1 rev / 480sec. (8 mins)

2x speed 1 rev 240 sec (4 mins)

8x speed 1 rev 60 sec (1 min)

16 x speed 1 rev 20 sec.

I did build a barn door and used the 8x speed option with a 1mm pitch thread but cannot find any notes as to the spacing from hinge to pivot point. I am sure that you will be able to work that out though.
