Stacking Images

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to get into astro-photography. I've read up on stacking of multiple pictures, and also of taking a video and having a program stack the frames of the video....

Does anyone know of any good free programs i can try either of these out with?

Thanks!

For deep sky images, (galaxies and nebulae and such) Deep Sky Stacker is very good. It's best to capture RAW images with a DSLR and load them into this one. Easy to learn and works well.

For video files of planets and the lunar surface, Registax it the one to use. This seems more difficult to use but there are plenty of Registax tutorials on the interweb.

For stacking images from AVIs you can use Registax or AVIStack. For Stacking deep space images you could try Deep Space Stacker. All are free.

Hehehe, Rik beat me to it! :D

This is getting to be a habbit. :)
