An amazing moon....

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help a complete novice.....

I am fascinated with the moon and regularly text uninterested relatives about "good moons" .....

On Dec 13th last year(13/12/11) with my wife on way to a meal I spied to the east and very low in the sky what appeared to be a v large beautifully pale moon (approx 19.10hrs).. I was driving and and only glimpsed it thinking it would re-appear... I couldn't find it again !!

Although my wife didn't quite understand it put me in a bad mood all evening !!!

OK OK.. can you help ?... Was it really as beautiful as I remembered?

What conditions caused this?

Is there a date in the future I could look to for a repeat?

The moon sets not long after the Sun next week, you should get a nice view of the Moon plus Venus, close to the Western Horizon at approx 7 p.m. next Friday
