Light Pollution Filter

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Im thinking of getting a light pollution filter as im taking a lot of images in a relatively heavy light polluted area and an exposures over 2 mins get fairly washed out.

From what ive been reading, LP filters are mainly just nebula filters, so my question is, is it better to just get a UHC or OIII instead of a dedicated Light pollution filter ?

As im hoping to use it with my SLR i was contemplating Astronomiks CLS Astronomik CLS Filter, however, they also do UHC and OIII versions.

Any advice would be great, thanks all.

My CLS is clipped into the Canon 1000D body.

The only restriction is that I can't use the Canon EF lenses as they bump into the filter.

Older Canon and ancient M42 thread lenses, with adapter, work fine.

Fitting the camera to the scope for prime focus is fine.
