processing comparison m51

These two images represent the same data but processed with a little bit more knowledge several months apart. Still took ages to do though the second time. Took lots of effort to get LP reduced. I am posting it as a demonstration of what the "learning curve" yields.

I am also interested to see what you think about the image background. I have a lcd monitor that gives quite different appearances from difference viewing angles. It does not look too bad from where I am but how does it look to you?
