Can I use my DSLR for video?

Hello!

I own the canon 1d mkIV camera. I can shoot 1080p HD video with it at 30, 25, and 24FPS.

Will this work for the webcam function that many people use for their captures?

I really don't want to buy a $100 USB webcam where my $6,000 camera will work. It would be a slap in the face to my DSLR friend =p

You can use EOS movie record for videos - I have a 450d and have used it to record Jupiter, it turns the camera into a webcam, the software does the recording. Click on the link below
