Jupiter astrophotogrphy help!

Recommended Posts

Could really do with some beginners advice here!

Went out last night to try and get some good images of Jupiter. Set my scope up, aligned it properly, and it was tracking very well ( it's a Nexstar 6SE).

Jupiter was stunning looking throughout the scope, loads of detail etc., so I decided to try and get some pictures. I'm running a Mac, Equinox Pro, and a Phillips webcam. All I could get was Jupiter as a really bright disc, with no detail visible at all. I'm capturing a video on .mov format, taking about 100 frames.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated on what I'm missing out!!!

Hi Chris - I think this is a common problem for first time imagers - there's a lot of threads on it but I think this one may have the settings you need to get a good shot of Jupiter:

It's a long one but there's loads of useful tips in there :)
