Test shot from the Parking lot at work...

During the week, the only way I can veiw the Sun is lunchtime at work from our truck, where I keep a PST in the back seat. I wanted to try to image the sun with a hand held Kodak point and shoot, and see what I could get this way just in case a huge flare or killer coiled prom shows up! This is my first attempt at this. The camera was set for -2EV to not blow out the suns very red disk. I then downloaded the image, and extracted the R channel for the disk image. After a bit of work, I produced this shot a few minutes ago, and while its nothing like the shot I can get at home on the weekend, I feel its good enough for now to get a suprise event on the sun or just a daily image or two. Anyway, here is the image. Anyone tried this before with encouraging results to share?
