Pointing to east

Hi, last night I was imaging Jupiter and had polar aligned quite well I think however when I pointed my telescope at Jupiter in the east, it didn't track very well. Does it not track very well because it was low in the sky or because I didn't move the telescope in the correct way? Thanks
