What have I caught?

I thought I'd found an asteroid once - Over the course of a session a tiny dim red star-like object appeared to move in a nice straight line from top right of a star, then underneath it, and on towards the bottom left.... It turned out to be the framing that was moving (due to flexure) and the Asteroid was nothing more than a hot pixel . (Luke - I think it was you that pointed that one out to me...!)

I wonder how many 'true' discoveries have been either written off or got dismissed as something like a glitch in the equipment or simply not possible?! Let's face it, science is littered with discoveries that were made but then ignored.
