Mount Threads.

Trying to mount a Synta altaz GoTo on a an old Vixen EQ5 tripod, seeking more stability. The original Konus tripod has a thread on the top that accepts a metric nut. So does the EQ1 hold down bolt that was going to be used to couple the two items together but the bottom of the Synta GoTo will not accept the bolt. Old enough to have used Whitworth, BSF, Unified Thread, BA, 26 TPI Cycle Thread and Metric so aware there will be many nearly fits but can anyone identify this thread and what might be used to unite the two items.

Should all else fail, will get the local machine shop to turn up a substitute bottom plate for the GoTo with a special bolt and matching thread.

Surely not much of help but the EQ5 should be M10 if I am not wrong.
