david o
Hi Alex,The Canon EOS series, particularly the 500D and 1000D, are very popular with the imagers. They certainly seem to have the best software support for astro-photography.Before you spend anything I recommend that you read the book Making Every Photon Count (by SGL's very own steppenwolf). It'll explain what kit you'll need and (more importantly) why, helping you avoid poor and costly choices of equipment.HTH

Demonperformer
Carl,I have a 1000D and it is a good 'workhorse'. For nebulae, a modded camera (one of the filters is removed to allow more red light in) is a great improvement, for clusters that does not appear to be so important (except for those that contain 'nebulosity' ).I would agree with David's comment that your first purchase should be MEPC - probably the best value AP item I have bought.HTH
