Problems with the battery I got.

So, I've got a battery in which I use the car charger to hook up my telescope to, but for some reason it is fairly loose, is it supposed to be this way? It seems like the slightest little nudge shuts it off.. It ruined my hopes of a long observing evening, just cause I didn't want to fiddle with it anymore, so what am I doing wrong? Is it just the wrong kind of adapter for the battery?

Not quite clear what your set up is but basic electrics suggest a clean secure contact be made between components , if the connection is moving around its pole freely that should be ok at say 12 volts but if the connection is loose then it shouldn't be , hence the break in power and so on...:D
