bobs knobs and collimation blues/200pDob

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me if there are supposed to be springs supporting the gap between the primary mirror and adjuster?Since fitting Bob's knobs,I am finding it impossible to collimate the primary mirror, which either feels too tight or just flops about.I have tried removing the rubber spacers which seem to impede adjustment -but then am left with the flopping mirror.Very very frustrating, since I had the scope well collimated before fitting the knobs which are supposed to simplify the procedure not complicate it.

I have the same scope as you and also fitted "Bobs knobs" to it.

Mine had no springs just the rubber spacers as you have, i left this in as this will keep the mirror steady and "safe" while adjusting, since i have fitted these the collimation has been so much better to do and i'm so glad i fitted them, can't think why your have trouble, have you put the correct "knobs" in the correct place? i.e locking knobs in the locking thread and not in the adjustment thread etc.
