    Hi all
well the telrad came today from rother valley optics i ordered it on the 31st dec to beat the extra vat ,back then it was £39.00 delivered they e mailed me the same day to say that it would not be back in stock till the 11 jan 2011 and did a want a refund i said no i will wait they rang me on the 10 jan to tell me my order would be sent out on the 11th jan and it arrived this morning the advantage to this for me will be the image the right way up, whist looking for targets has for as for a newcomer this can be hard to get to grips with imho lol thats still hard to get the brain round but this will sort that out a seen one a mate had and it made star hopping easy the sevice of rother valley optics was first class and would order with no probs again

Hi one and all ,let me first start by thanking "astro baby" for her great guide on collimation which i did and the scope was of by miles and is now tip top and tonights viewing was all the better for it ,so a big thanks to her .
now Saturn who wee baby my eyes nearly popped out my head the ear to ear smile was hurting my face i had the 32mm eye piece in and soon changed to the 12mm, which gave me a great view all the moons were there it was magical my hands touched the scope and it felt electric a shooting star shot past my view and the rings were perfect the angle was so good that i thought my god is this real
i looked left and saw dione.enceldu, and tethys they were there mimas wasreal close bottom left amd rhea was up and to the right am sure a saw some thing else near rhea but could not be sure if that was just a back ground star.
let me tell ya this if ya have never seen saturn befor like me its just unreal to see this makes the heart beat faster and gives you a scale on just how small we are here on earth, and makes the feeling inside of just how small we are on are blue little ball to sum this up a wish a could travel into space and just fly close to saturn just the once, but i will be more than happy to look at it through my white baby every chance a get(white baby be in the scope ,whos name is MO1)
    what a night wipeeeeeeeee
    unreal
    clear skies always

Hi all ,well a wa up till around 04:30 we had a great clear skyand high mag see in conditions set the scopes up and got the coffee on and fired it all up well for some reson the 90mm refractor just would not focus with the cameras or the web cam .a new the dob would be a challenge as the web cam makes it shoot through the screen so of a go , after 2 hours of twisting turning i headed for the kitchen to warm up and check the footage so far a new soon saturn would be high in the south eastish and would be better
a started with eps to start with and got some great views a could see a couple a moons one to the right and one close left a thought get the web cam. well the web cam did not pick them up well in one vid may be it could be a dead paixel or just wish full thinking, any way here the link for the video a did manage to pull a few pics out some of the vids and ya cam just see some detail on saturn no cassinni doh a want to see it on vid naked eye ball at the eep cam but the low res vid cam ,can not any way what a night a loved it saturn did not disapoint one bit a hope it stays clear tonight as a no were a went wrong last night so tonight "should be a breeze",i wish

Hi to all, well last night was a steep learning curve with the web cam spc900 and settings the clouds and the wind.well around 18:00 stuck the scope out side it was real clear we had are tea and went out about 19:00.as normal the clouds were back and we set the laptop and cam up.then total cloud cover till about 22:15,so back out again Polaris was the only thing a could see so I tried to get the settings some were close a was led to beleave of morgans that the web cam would act like a 15mm ep,ok no chance more like a 6mm.a barlow would have killed it all together. Any way Polaris was hard to get focus on will put the link to the rubbish effort and I then saw arcturus flashing away all colors and pointed the scope that way,the wind was blowing a tad now so things were going down hill fast but a got a few seconds worth of footage ,saturn was in and out of the clouds so a had a quick go the 12" dob is not the best scope for this but never the less I got a few secs worth
now the settings are so important ,and I had a good play about with them the rack and pinion focuser is not worth it for this cam work I could not get the focus right most of the time a crawford is my next purchase ,the zoom on the cam settings is ok and sharpcap is great once you rember to save the settings as default ie,10fps,ect. the v lounge settings the zoom was set to 1 to start with a played about with them settings and got there in the end I liked the results all be it shaky and not in focus notes were made and next time things should go a lot quicker the hardest prob was no tracking this is a big pain with the dob and cam in general its not a prob at all but when ya try in to press buttons ect at the same time fun and games start my daughter was cold and was not interested in help at this point but all the same a had a not bad night link is here if you care to waste a couple a secs of your time
    thanks Pat

    Hi all
well just spent most of the day play in about with the copy i brought of SN-PRO PLUS 6 and the ascom pluggin, man what a pain i no this is so simple to do and could not get it to play ball so i decided that stellarium is for me at least thats almost plug and play with the scope.with all drivers built in a can not send snpp6 back to the company off amazon "because you undid the box" we can not except it back .
tried sn website the help section just blew my brains out my ears ,on the up side i ordered a new cable usb to serial and the other cable which came today.
which i have no use for because the other one worked fine, i did not no that you needed to be logged in as admin on the pc to do all the ports ect what a pain .any way every thing is cool now so watch the for sale section for the cables and snpro pluss 6 and all the cables to use on meade goto scopes thanks pat

    hi
the post finnaly came and a got the disk of which there is 2 installed it 11gb big install.my pc is pent5.2.8 gb and 3gb ram no graphics card. after insatll took a few mins to update and register the software with there website updated to latest version and it runs fine no crashs freezes ect i like it it offers a few more things than sterlluim has not got and the general lay out is great the gui is great theres so much stuff in this that it would take me weks totell you about it but the first looks are great once you set it up with your location and save the file with all that info,it burst`s in to life the guided tours are great you can have the space ship view which is mega even my 11 year daughter likes it a will update this blog as a get more into it and giveit a good test but at the min it s great and has lots to offer what a did read on the web was that the torrent versions crash ! the price is a bit steep and a think it was worth every penny even tho it took nearly 3 weeks to get here ,the ease of use took a bit of getting ussed to but the help files and online help soon sorted that out,the price was £98 yes it may have well been spent on other things for the scope but this is great sofware i love it
    thanks pat

    iso800
    30sec subs
    28mm lense
    update 1st july
each new pics as x 10 more subs my editing skills are rubbish so could any one help me out on how to make them better also double clik and klik the pic again these were big pics
as you can see from pics 45 this is a result of dew on the lens and not check in every frame before you stack not just check in the score but also check each pic ,to avoid this the last pic is with the dew frames removed
    thanks pat

Hi every one just came across this software ,as a noob a thought a would get more things to help me locate and find the targets am after, looking at flat sheets of paper with constellations was a bit hard (did i have it the right way up?) any way so this afternoon a found" stellarium "(google it a may include a link) it is a great bit of software it took a bit of working out setting it up and a downloaded a few more things in to it which is all accessible from the sofware its self.
its very easy to understand a may even stick it on my daughters i pad if she will let me for outdoor use a can not say enough good things about this software for noobs the interface is so easy to use and the selection of stars nebs and all the rest are so easy to find on this if you are or was struggling to work the skies out this is invaluable imho because its so straight forwards and easy to use i`ll get the link so you can decide for ya self i rate this software a lot
