  1. Excellent evening. Jupiter was the star of the show, and we got some DSOs in until the moon came up and bleached everything out. First light under the stars with the Lyra and it gave a very good account of itself - kept it trained on Jupiter pretty well the whole evening. EQ6 didn't miss a beat.
  2. That's tonight! Stargazing live - scopes out, some talks if you want to venture indoors, but the weather forecast looks good for this evening over S10.
  3. A link to the enterance fees for non-members might help too!
  4. This is a beginners' evening, and the topic of discussion is Pluto! SAS are going to try a slightly different format - as I understand it, the presentation will be run indoors as usual. If the skies are clear, the scopes will also be set up for observation. So ... if you're not interested in Pluto, there should still be a reason to show yer face! Forecast currently says "Partly cloudy" ...
  5. I see where that is ... it's like the Mayfield site, a big hill is in the way of the Sheffield skyglow.
  6. Yes, it really held out for us. Started to cloud over just as the event was due to close. Somewhere between 50-60 people attended and we had about 6 scopes on the go, so a great start to the evening events! Still didn't get that damned supernova or the comet though.
  7. ... and please feel free to get stuck into the South Yorkshire Stargazers group!
  8. Tomorrow's event at Mayfield is more than talks (subject to weather co-operation)! Mike will be outside observing as will I. There will be talks indoors as well if the weather doesn't hold up, but it looks reasonable right now. I'll be bringing the Dob along too ...
  9. Aye ... looks like they be a shufflin' things around. I participated in a vBulletin upgrade a few years ago ... I really don't envy them that job. Hmmm ... 28 views but only one reply. COME ON PEOPLE MAKE SOME NOISE! Letting the side down 'n' all ...

  11. Ordered the 102mm f/11 achromat from Glen at Lyra Optic - arrived in a couple of days, very well packaged. A lovely scope, and great communication from Glen all the way through the ordering process. Very happy.
