I’m starting down the rabbit hole of imaging with my Celestron Evolution 8 sct. For now I’m going to concentrate on planetary imaging and have purchased an ASI224MC as my first camera. I haven’t connected the camera yet, but from my use of the Evo 8 for visual use I’m wanting something more than the stock focuser. I’m pretty much torn between 2 solutions, both offering a hands off means of focusing. The first choice is the Celestron Electronic focus motor, relatively inexpensive, but still relying on moving the primary mirror to achieve fine focus. My other choice would be a Crayford focuser, one that can be motorized, most likely using the ZWO EAF. I welcome everyone’s opinion on those 2 choices, and if there’s an option I haven’t considered, I welcome that too. Thanks.
