My error, this is of course a stretched image, the AAP has stretched it rather than me hence my confusion. The corresponding fits file DOES look even and the ADU is about 25000

Hi, no it isn’t stretched. I do see some of the same gradient on lights sometimes. But I think you answer my question in that this is what I should be seeing when taking flats. If we ever get a clear night I’ll get some data to process with them and see what happens! 

With following set up I can’t get flat frames flat all the way to the edge. Normal?

asi 294mc pro

using asi air pro to calculate exposure, ADU value looks right, but I get steep gradients at the edge as shown in attached image. I’ve tried the T shirt method, plus a light pad with and without the shirts, but the result is the same. Any ideas?

Yes, but...

There is much more to Siril than the scripts. I'd highly recommend pre-pocessing, registering and stacking manually, at least to begin with, otherwise you may as well just use dss (or maybe not on a mac). Move onto the scripts when you are familiar with the workings. You may just stay with manual;)

That’s helpful thanks. I’ve had limited success with the manual side of things but quite good results with the scripts - will be looking to play a bit more now as I have some filters - though no clear skies obviously!

Just started using an ASI 294 MCpro and reading around the suggestion is to use ‘dark flats’ rather than bias frames. 
 

I use Siril on Mac for processing and the scripts make it easy, but most require 4 folders with images, ‘lights’ ‘darks’ ‘flats’ ‘biases.’ 
 

Can I just put my dark flats in the biases folder? Is the process being used on them the same?

Hi, fairly new to imaging, I’m using an ioptron skyguider pro with a Williams optics z61 and canon 6d. Feels like my next step up is a PC for processing - at the moment I’m trying muddle my way along using old software like lynkeos on an ageing Mac. 
A friend who knows computers (but not astrophotography) has suggested this https://www.scan.co.uk/products/scan-home-h11i-intel-core-i3-8100-coffee-lake-8gb-ddr4-120gb-ssd-1tb-win-10 which meets my budget......could I get a few opinions here? Is this going to meet what I need to stack and process using DSS/registax photoshop etc? Thanks
