  1. Good day/evening! My first post here, after rummaging around a bit in the forums. I just recently purchased a Celestron Powerseeker 127EQ, and I got the extra Meade Super Plossl 15mm eyepiece and a laser collimator for good measure. I've read through the Celestron manual, which despite this being a beginner's scope appears to be written for someone more advanced... I got everything set up correctly (I think) and tried to balance the scope to some degree, and I'm going to set the finder tonight. The one thing that confounded me a bit during last night's first viewing session was how to properly move the telescope about to direct it to objects? The slow motion cable didn't seem to do much to actually shift the scope, and I found myself gently tugging it by hand from the back of the scope itself (I have a slightly impatient 9-year-old for whom the scope was purchased :)). I'm also not entirely sure how to "lock" it in place once I've centered it on an object. With some light pollution, facing east from the 45th parallel in April and a kid whose bedtime is just past 9:00pm, about the only object we could center on was Arcturus, which of course was somewhat underwhelming for a kid who thinks we should be spotting the moons of Saturn immediately Any suggestions for tutorials is welcome.
