Hey Lenscap, i came across that but in order to upgrade i need to connect to it. I'm caught in a catch-22
Would i be able to connect to the RJ12 via a USB cable and upgrade it through a cable? (not even sure that kind of cable exists!)

I have the Sky Watcher AZ-GTI motor mount and have been having trouble connecting to it. Instead of broadcasting the SSID SynScan_XXXX it keeps broadcasting the ESP_14CD09 SSID. I cannot connect to that SSID as I don't believe that is an Access Point. I've left my motor on for 4+ hours (the amount of time the manual says it takes to reset the WiFi) but it just doesn't reset. I've tried this about 5 times and still not resetting. Is there anyway I can connect to it via a cable to force it to reset? Any other way to reset the WiFi? No device I have can connect to it (PC, Android, iPad).

thank you all for your suggestions. I drove over to a parking lot, far from any wifi interference and was able to successfully connect to the AZ-GTI. I also did a dry run and was able to navigate to and track a few stars for some time.
I have to figure out what is causing my device to act the way it does at home. Most of my stargazing will occur in my backyard and there are easily 6-8 wifi signals from mine and my neighbors routers.
What occurs is the SynScan_cd09 SSID pops up for a split second then converts to the ESP_14CD09 one. If i connect to the ESP one, then the app won't find the device. It needs to connect to the SynScan one. Does this mean there is a router or device automatically connecting to the SynScan causing it to "connect" to that device and blocking out the device I actually want it to connect to? (tonight i'll do a device check within my house and make sure they all forget about the SynScan)
Again, thanks for the input, now to figure out the culprit. You guys rock!!!

I've been so frustrated with the AZ-GTI - hoping I can get some help
Here's the situation - the AZ-GTI WiFi can never stay on long enough to connect to ANY device I have. I've tried with my Android, iPad, iPhone, and computer. And here's the kicker, I've tried to connect to 3 different motormounts and failed. I bought the first one, reached out to SkyWatcher tech support and sent it in. They send me a replacement and it fails. I send the unit back to the store I purchased and request a replacement and get a third one, and that one fails too!
Here's what happens: The unit turns on and sometimes I will see the SynScan_cd09 SSID pop up. I click on it and I get an "Authentication failed" message. That's if I'm lucky enough to see the SynScan SSID - what usually happens is I dont see that SSID but instead it turns into ESP_14CD09 SSID (notice the CD09 they both have). I can connect to this one but when I go to the SynScan Pro app and ask to find devices, it fails.
I'm hoping you folks have some suggestions cause in a few days i'm just going to pack it up, get a refund and never pick up another SkyWatcher product again. And to me, a handheld unit is not an option. This device was created to avoid the need of purchasing another $200 device to operate it.
thanks in advance!
Resetting Sky Watcher AZ-GTI WiFi is failing

Ii got it to work!!!
In case anyone stumbles on this. I drove away and parked in a large parking lot away from buildings. I wanted as little WiFi interference as possible. Using my iPad I turned on the AZ-GTI motor and hoped that I saw the SynScan_xxxx SSID appear. It did!! I quickly went into the SynScan Pro app, connected and found the motor mount. I then went into settings, and altered the WiFi settings. I kept the SSID as it was, i changed the security from Open to WPA/WPA2 PSK, changed the password to something i would remember, and finally changed the Channel to 11 since i noticed at home channels 1-9 were heavily used in my neighborhood (used a wifi analyzer app to research that).
I rebooted the motor and it was broadcasting the right SSID. I went home, turned on the motor and all worked!! I connected it to my computer and upgraded it to 3.20. My computer, Andriod and ipad devices can all see and connect to it successfully now.
I hope this helps the next weary sky gazer!
