  1. You don't have to limit yourself to the Meade products. You can use any flattener that is suitable for an 115mm/f7 scope. TS Optics offer a generic flattener that is suitable for their own 115mm/f7. I got the HoTech SCA 1x field flattener for my Tecnosky 90mm/f6 and it works very well in combination with my  ZWO ASI533MC. Have a look on the FLO website, they sell these two and others and have got them in stock.

  2. That's beautiful, so much detail and nice colours. I would be well chuffed with a result like that!

Interesting what you're saying about mono vs colour cameras. I went from DSLR (Fuji XT2) to OSC (ASI533MC) with the thought that once I got the hang of the whole lot of capturing and processing images properly then I would 'upgrade' to a larger mono camera. But I'm not so sure now. Mono may be more sensitive and have better resolution, but with OSC you end up with a complete image to enjoy straight away.

  3. That's looking very promising. So much detail in there, must be great at full resolution! And it's an interesting discussion. I have only recently started imaging again and so far have only imaged 'classical' stuff like M27, M31, M45, Heart Nebula, that kind of stuff. My setup gives me a FOV of just over 1 degree, so lots of it is too big to fit in. The choice is then to create a mosaic, buy a larger camera or a smaller scope.  But with a smaller scope you miss out on the detail. And I've got more time than money, so mosaics it is for now. Besides, from what I've seen on the forums, good astrophotography can be done at any pixel scale. And you've got to play the long game in this hobby. Good luck with it, I look forward to seeing the full SHO image.
