    Looks good - Just wonder if there is more there to be pulled out - perhaps leaving the background lighter would help to show the fainter reaches? Also, maybe masking the core while processing would stop the details near to the centre blowing out a bit.

    I think you are most probably correct.  My post processing skills are not the best- I usually just move the slider about until I bring something out  :D  I shall return to it when get back in the U.K. next week and see if I can pull any rabbits out of the hat with your suggestions - Thanks

  2. Final image consisting of 35 lights, 20 Darks and 20 Flats.  Alot were discarded due to the wind picking up and moving the camera last night :(  All frames were taken on a Canon 6D MKII with 100 - 400mm L lens mounted on Skywatcher Star Adventurer Mini

    Details:  Exp/frame 120sec, ISO 2500 & ISO8000, f5.6.  Stacked in DSS then tweaked in LR and PS

    Second picture is the setup.  I quite pleased with the result tbh

    CC welcome :D

    Thanks Ian.

    The last session outside temp was well below 0. The banding has been better in summer conditions 20 degree heat.

    But a very valid point, I have never known how to check the sensor temp, I use Canon EOS utility to capture and never found a temp reading on that or the camera, excuse my ignorance but I'm not sure what EXIF data is :(

    Cheers

    Nige.

    EXIF data contains all of the image information recorded by the camera (date, time, GPS loctaion, shutter speed etc) If you download the free program IrfanView you can view the EXIF data from this.  It is also a very handy program for batch processing etc

    Tracked package containing MLX chips and delivery is scheduled for Friday by FedEx.  Reason for cost of delivery and time taken is that they are coming from the USA - Memphis, Tennessee!  I would have thought that Mouser UK would have UK stock when they said items were in stock!

    Never had a problem with Mouser deliveries.  Usually arrives within 2 or 3 days with import duty & VAT taken care of.  All of their stuff comes from the US I believe

    Checked up on the approximate pulses per second versus mph and I get about 1p/s for 1mph so 100mph would produce 100 pulses per second or 10ms minimum time between pulses.  I reckon even the Arduino should be able to handle this from its interrupt system.

    pulseIn() or pulseInLong()  :)
