Made a mistake on the mount name. Should be MT-2C
-
A most excellent mod. Nicely done !!
-
Comparing the interior of your new 150P to my yr 2000 150F8, 2M, it looks like Tal have vastly improved their matt black paint formula. Your's looks nice and black.

Another first. An early Tal 8x50 with an etched circle. Fantastic!
-
Ah sorry, understand what you mean by the 'V'. The machined V groove round the cirumference.
You can just make out the ribbed RA wheel in the above shot.
If the weather holds up, I'm going to try out the polar scope bodge. Do you know if tiny 'H' shaped aluminium is available. Would be less hastle(and more accurate) than cutting & screwing together two bits of channel together.

The 200K is built like a T-34 tank. The older 3mm thk alu tubes are a breeze to drill n add stuff. I put another Tal 8x50 finder brkt & shoes on mine to hold my home assembled 80mm finder. In the near future, I'll be drilling n tapping holes for some guider rings to hold my Burgess fluorite and Carton 60/1000. The MT-2C(2M) mount handles this weight with extreme ease !!

Ahh. This bit....
'V' in the pedestal?
Regarding polar alignment. I've not had a chance to try this out, but I'm hoping it might work.....see half way down this thread of mine....

I'm going to try a std small finder also. Could speed up the setting up of the older Tal mounts without polar scopes.
-
The pedestal sleeve is a bit different to mine. Looks a tad longer. Once the locking grub screws on it are removed, does the screw off or slip off? Mine is a slip fit, but I've heard older MT-2C's screwed on.
-
Yup. Defo like your RA slo-mo wheels better than mine.
-
Your clutch springs look in good, un-crushed, condition. Mine were flattened to death.
-
Mess? Na. Just getting plenty of use. More differences to mine. Looks like a nylon geared reduction box. Also the method of attachment of the gearbox & motor to the mount is different. This is why I always like to see pics of folks Tals. You just never know what the small changes Tal has made over the years.
-
Excellent, another difference.......ie: the RA slo-mo wheels. Never seen ones like this! Mine have a rougher ribbed circumference. I like yours!
-
Oooh. Never seen a 2M with the large lock thumbscrew. M2M(MT-2C) has a locking ring. Can be seen here,
What age is your 2M?

Hi Snaut !
The MT-3S. Nice mount. I have one also, but am using the older MT-2C(the mount that came with the Tal-2) as I'm having trouble with the hand controller on the MT-3S. I really like the high quality, illuminated pole finder. Makes setting up, much easier and quicker. When mine was working, I enjoyed using it. Nice and solid.
-
Ahh, good ole film. Beautiful warm image. Keep 'em coming, me like.
-
Unscrew the cap on the other side with the 2 holes, with the provided wrench with 2 'prongs'.
-
Believe it or not, that bag of silica is not home made !!!!! All my older Tal's came with it. First time I saw one, I sniffed it, thinking it was a bag of lavender....wahaha.
-
Superb !
The 200K was soooo meant to ride that mount.
-
That's what I like to see. Multiple Tal's.
;-D
Andy.

Lovely ! One of these days I'd like a peek through one of these 150P's.
-
Nice! An '07 model. I notice the improved primary mirror baffle tube.
-
Sweet !! The new 200K with crayford. You're the first confirmed owner that I know of.
Tal 2M mount(MT-2C) base.
