I do dream about dream scopes and I am glad they exist. I think if a future archaeologist digs up a Questar, they would smile at our folly and think more kindly of our barbaric culture!
Mmmmm Questar. I do have a spare kidney 🤔

Does snow normally precede telescope delivery?
All new scopes come with weather I'm afraid.
At least you're not getting a Takahashi , you wouldn't see clear skies till next June 😊

The DOB has the superior aperture so for visual that would win out for me.
You could of course also get a small frac like an ed 80 , they are fairly ubiquitous in the UK secondary market and go for a couple of hundred pounds.
That could work for ap on your eq5 and use the DOB for visual maybe.

Each to their own , that's why it's a good idea to visit a local astronomy club to see what suits you best.
I for one will be keeping my Tal I'm happy to say.
Aperture rules my Bottom ?

Me too I was hoping for more than 5kg myself. I thought being skywatcher they might have made it with their 5 inch scope in mind. Bit disappointed in all honesty , tho the slo mo controls look nice.

Well, I dunno about that, I never could get on with alt-az, right from the off, seemed daft to push a 'scope around in two axis when you need only do one.
And now I've turned to the dark side there's no going back.
With my small back garden I have to shuffle around fir trees to the front and the house to the back so alt az is ideal for me.
They block out the street lights a treat tho ! -

With the clear skies tonight I had the scope out and also found an old xmas present i hadnt even opened.
An astronomy with binoculars package.
In it were a pair of orion explorer 7 x 35 wa bins with 4 dustcaps in a plastic bag inside a canvas case.
First light they showed up the pleiades and andromeda lovely.
An orion redbeam mini as well tho its been so many years the batteries are dead !

Back in the mid 80s I used my fathers 10 x 50 Carl Zeiss Jena bins and a book called astronomy with binoculars. I remember they were pretty good but blooming heavy. They were clattered clambering up the roof of the shed more than a few times ! My favourite view was the smudge of the andromeda galaxy
