Hi George, how does this perform in the field?
I'm considering it myself as well as high precision replacement ring & worm gears. The thing I like about it is you can always reverse it if it doesn't work out

Euan, you're welcome to borrow one of mine to try out when they arrive, Just drop me a PM
Graham
It's OK I've managed to get a login to a few test cameras
Very nice of you to offer though

motion detecting IP camera (foscam)
Never heard of them before, just had a look at the website and they look very nice (and good value)
Any chance you could PM me over a screen shot of your feed? I just want to a rough comparison of the quality compared to the IP cam I have at the moment

Another good one maybe not go into too much detail of what "measures" you have installed
Good point
Did I mention that my alarms link to a servo that opens a kennel door to two hungry Rottweilers?

I do need to increase the internal security a bit more though
I've been thinking about this as well, and while trying not to give anything away to would-be criminals, there are a few weak points in an imaging system that are easy to get and small enough to be away with in seconds if you know what you are doing. Securing these without making life more difficult for yourself is quite difficult
Obviously there are a few bits that are almost impossible to move even if you wanted too, I remember someone on here saying that someone tried to make off with an EQ6 and didn't get very far

Good idea for a thread, I've taken this a bit more seriously recently after totalling up how much kit is sitting in the obs
I've put in a night vision outdoor IP camera that gives me on overview of the area, as well as one inside the obs to catch the faces of potential intruders. I've also put a IR beam sensor on the entrance that will fire an alarm should someone step in
The next step for me is to finish off a server machine I have that will record from both cameras, and put in some more robust locks on the whole thing
You can never be too careful

Just thought I would add to this....
Bought something at lunchtime, got a fast response that the items were out of stock for a few weeks, found an alternative and still made the post the same day
Can't fault the service, it really is top notch

What an amazing piece of engineering
Is there an award for the best first post ever?

Hi folks,
I'm a regular shopper at FLO & Modern Astronomy but I recently bought an EQ6 upgrade kit from Harrison Telescopes as they were the cheapest I could find. It came next day but when I tried it out it was faulty. They were very fast at getting it picked it up from me via Courier (even twice as I got the address wrong the first time), and were really good at keeping me updated and getting a replacement sorted and shipped back
They were very fast to respond to emails, even at the weekend, and I was really impressed with the service, I thought they were worth a mention as I had never heard anything about them on any forums

Bits ordered. Just doing RA, so for £18.85 it's a no-brainier
