Hi,
I don’t mean to be cheeky, but I’m staying at Kelling Heath in one of the lodges on our annual holiday, any chance I can pop down one evening and introduce myself?
If you talk to folk in the day, maybe some will say its ok to pop back for some observing at night. Fine by me for a bit. Kelling is now the only time I get to use my scope so I’m pretty busy

Any folks at Kelling right now? How’s it looking ? Any major issues eg mud? Seems like a dry weather spell coming up and chances of some periods of clear sky over the weekend. I plan to travel up Friday.

the Astronomy Club who organise the event have good info on their website https://las-skycamp.org/

Many folks planning to come to Kelling ? I’m planning on going - first star party since the pandemic. Seems like a long time ago. Hopefully will go well and not be too different to past years. Will be towards top of red field with my dob if anyone passes by.

Still going..even thought the current 7 day forecast is not the best.
I've not been before, so a question. Do we set up our equipment by our pitches? or is there a specific pitch area?
Hi, Just set up equipment within your pitch area. Hope your first trip goes well. We’ll all need a bit of luck with this weather. I’ll be up in the top corner T320 if anyone passes, with the dob. Hoping to get a better pitch next year if available, I learnt the hard way that a no-show means you lose your pitch for the following year. Rules changed this time it seems

I've just shot an E mail off to Kelling Heath to ask how the gatherings of more than 6 people and the 10pm curfew (that is being considered/come in yet, starting to lose the plot), is going to affect the event, I said I would help them by posting the reply on here to save lots of enquiries, so will let you know what they say, though they may be inundated with enquiries.

Good idea. Hopefully we’ll get some answers. The Star Party is definitely more than 6 people ! Unless if you look at it as separate bookings at a campsite. I’d be surprised if it goes ahead TBH but really hope it does

Good to hear folk talking about the upcoming Kelling 😀 Planning on going up Friday for the w/e with my 18” dob, towards top of red field, scope is badly overdue some action. Forecast for Friday FWIW looks hopeful. No show from me for the last 4 Kellings I booked. Last time saw a subtle shift in policy- for a paid no-show if you phone up during the post Star Party re-booking window when your pitch is supposedly held, in a no-show senario your pitch isn’t necessarily safe for rebooking
