Ok,
according to the centre distance corresponding to 12:48 reduction required by 80T belt, I think I should opt for 86 tooth to fit a 60T pulley.

Hi George,
I just read your answer, thank you.
I'm still tempted to opt for a 60T pulley: I should be able to enlarge the worm housing.
Could you suggest me the right (MXL) belt length?
Thank you again and Clear Skies!

Hi @all,
I just found this interesting thread and now I'm really tempted to mod my EQ6 too.
I've no access to a lathe; so I need a ready to use solution...
I think I'll be obliged to get the parts from HPC Gears: I can't modify the bore of the small pulley.
I see the following dimensions about the big pulley:
1. pulley outside diameter = 39mm
2. boss diameter = 20mm
3. width = 11mm
Anyway George opted for a 48T pulley that has a width reduced to 15mm and the outside diameter (according to the specs) is 30.53mm
I'm tempted to think that an outside diameter of 39mm together with a 15mm width is possible with no need to modify the mount (maybe the only need is enlarging the slot required by the belt but I think it's feasible).
So the question...
I see that 60T pulley (60W A60W by HPC Gears for 6.35mm wide belt) outside diameter is 38.30mm and its width is 15mm.
Will the 60T pulley fit without issues?
I'm thinking about the following solutions:
12T (or 15T) pulley from HPC Gears with 5mm bore
60T pulley from HPC Gears with 12mm bore
I'll greatly appreciate your help.
Thank you and Clear Skies!

Hi George,
I used that link. What I found was that 87T should be the best choice. But I also read that you had to enlarge one of the motors plates holes to properly tighten one of the belts.
So I evaluated the 86T solution...
I see no 86T belt offered by HPCGears. So I'll be obliged to buy a pair of (Polyurethane) 87T belts.
Anyway what I'm not sure about refers to the number of tooth in mesh: only 4 on the small pulley. Do you think I can ignore this issue? I think no great torque is required but I still didn't give a look at belts technical specs... Pretty the same issue should occurs with 48:12 reduction if it really exists...
Thank you and Clear Skies!
