Hello Sid,
Not knowing your own personal circumstances, would it not be simpler (and cheaper, perhaps?) to switch to another Home & Contents insurance provider that DOES include provisions appropriate to your needs here?
My Home & Contents insurance policy does just this, requiring only that I itemized each item individually worth over the given valuation threshold - which includes quite a lot, for most folks' possessions I'd think - whether astronomy-related or not.
