Hi all first post on here... i have a cheap and nasty 60mm x 700 aspen scope (cost about £80 a few years ago) what i was really trying to establish is how much better would a £300 scope be, say for example a meade etx 80 goto. I know i would love the ability to "goto" a star or planet with ease but what would it look like ? I have seen mars (approx 0.8mm dia. in a 12mm eyepeice) saturn (approx 0.5mm dia.) Venus crescent (approx 1.0mmdia.) They all appear very small and lacking in any detail, i know its hard to explain what you see but can you put your veiwing experience into words ?
