No doubt about the tripod and GEM - they're TAL. I bought my 100R a few years ago on eBay and paid £125 if my memory serves. Mine came in an enormous wooden box with the OTA, mount and eyepieces. It's made for an excellent work surface in my garage for the last few years as it's a pretty solid item! Actually I've been away from stargazing for a few years so this thread has got me thinking it's more than time to get back outside.
Do we still get clear nights???

Who said it's finished???
I could get the 3.5mm, 10mm and 36mm Aspheric to make it a complete set but my case isn't big enough! Though if a nice 10mm came up for sale I could be tempted

Don't have anything for planets but I still remember a little ditty from junior school (1979?) for remembering how to spell the word 'science'.

Wonderful to think of the huge impact Sir Patrick has had, and will continue to have, on the lives of so many people around the world. A lasting memorial to a true gentleman.
RIP.

Here's my case with more to follow...
Blimey, that 32mm Panaview is a bit of a beast!

Since when did Astro kit have to be asthetically pleasing?
According to that analogy we should all be using brass refractors.
I see you own a 200p Dob, hardly the worlds answer to a great looking scope.

Boxy, dew prone, sticky backed plastic monstrosities...yuk!

Bought my last Hyperion EP from Harrison's and they were a pleasure to do business with

It seems strange that some people using the Evostar-120 report fine planetary views, whilst others report very poor ones, perhaps this could indicate potential quality control issues with these telescopes?
Or perhaps different viewing conditions, or different eyesight?

Nope. I use a pair of Bresser 10x50s

I don't want to sound like a tightwad, but I find that an ice cream tub works perfectly well as an eyepiece case - as long as the eyepieces have the dust caps on at either end then it's okay!
My first 'case' was an old shoebox. I'm still using it for some of my bits & pieces

Enjoyed reading that and congratulations on your new Bright Star status

What a good idea for a thread - well done
My 200P dob has similar mods, though a little different (AE light shield is more of a 'peak' shape and is shorter & simple RDF which doesn't suffer with dew to replace the 9x50 finder), but that's the great thing about these telescopes - we can customise them to how we want them
M13 is a lovely sight & I can highly recommend the 13mm Hyperion. It just works so well in this telescope and also fits the full Moon in it's field of view, which makes for a stunning view
Solid tube or flextube? I remember reading some advice on SGL a while ago which basically suggested the flextube was more suitable for 12" telescopes and above, and the solid tube for the smaller sizes like ours. In the future I may well put my OTA onto a GEM and the solid tube is more suitable for doing that.

Just goes to show it's not always what you know, but who you know - nice one

I knew that averted vision worked but not why so thank you for my newfound knowledge!
I'm also going to give telescope tapping a try next time out

Even though it's been a while I do recall my Baader Hyperions all came to focus (the 1.25" ones) - 24mm to 5mm.
