I went to Opticstar in Sale, near Manchester today with certain expensive purchases in mind. I dealt with George there. we spent 30 minutes discussing my eyepiece woes and he basically talked me out of spending the amount of money i was willing to and took the time to go through the range of eyepeices suitable for my scope and what i wanted from them. Very patient guy and more then willing to answer the most banal of questions i had. Great shop - highly recommended.

As a footnote - for the 30-40 minutes i was in the store at least 3 people came in there as newbies asking for scope and general astro advice - great for the hobby!!

The HUGE difference between this site and any other technical forum (Linux, SQL etc) i am a member of is how willing people are prepared to answer the most banal of questions. Over and over again. Try that on another forum and they all get mighty peeved by you. Big props to the site and the knowledge, helpfulness and patience of the members.

I have about six pairs of Lidl specials (10x50's)

do they still sell these?

i have 10x50s which are good unsupported. Also have 15x70s which are great but very difficult to use unless im laid on recliner. if i had to choose 1 it would be the 10x50s
