  1. Hello and apologies if this is a silly question. Am finding all the advice and insight really helpful but am still struggling. I live in the east midlands in the UK and have been trying to observe since January. Now that the weather has improved I have been getting my Skywatcher 130m EQ2 out to try and see things. Although I have seen great detail of the moon, I have not managed to see much else. I accept this likely due to my lack of experience but I was wondering whether due to the time of year I am probably not able see much between 9:30 and 10:30 at night and need to wait until a lot later. At this stage I really want to see the planets before exploring anything else. Grateful for any advice. Cheers
  2. Hi. Like those photos and what a lovely place to live.
  3. Great write up. I have just got hold of one of these although it came with the motor. Some lovely photos which rekindles my enthusiasm. It has rained every day since I got mine so I have set it up, collimated the lenses and am ready to go.

I have been lucky enough to get a Sky watcher 130m on eBay form a really nice guy. All set and ready to go. Just waiting for a clear night. The mount is an EQ 2, which must weigh twice that of the Bresser and hopefully will help stability. Looks massive compared to my 70/900 refractor.

Thanks. First clear night for me for a while. Managed to get a view of Jupiter and two of its moons. Wish I could do something with my shakey mount.

My name is Tim and I live just outside Sheffield near the Peak. I would just like to say hello and say thanks for all the great advice and guidance on the site, which has helped me to start my astronomy journey. I have dug out my Bresser telescope that I was given as a Xmas present a few years back. I think I have set it up and balanced it as best I can, though the EQ mount is not so steady. Weather permitting, it should help to start me on may way. I keep meaning to drop in to the Chesterfield Observatory to see how the experts do it.
