  1. I've been viewing online tutorials regarding processing in Siril and slowly making progress, although at the moment I don't seem to get the same result twice if I reprocess an existing image. I guess that will come with more practice although some variations are quite nice.

This is an image of the Cone Nebula from the 3rd March, 2 hrs of 5 min subs on a ZWO 294MCPro, stacked on an AsiAirPlus and processed in Siril.

  2. My first photo submission, so I hope it works.

The Cone Nebula taken with NGC2264_ConeNebula5.25hrs.thumb.jpg.b2ea47dbc54cc6cb64725f7f31d332fd.jpga Stella Mira 90 triplet, on an Ioptron Gem 28 using an AsiAirPro and an eLenhance filter. 5.25 hours of 5 minute subs on 3rd and 6th March 24. Stacked by the AsiAir, processed in Siril (following a couple of on line tutorials)

  3. I did something similar recently. I keep my telescope in a chest inside the garage and purchased a ZWO294mcpro camera before Christmas, which I fitted in place of a 585, but found that due to other items in the chest it was an inch of two too long. Rather than shortening the dew shield, I wound in the focusser and it fitted inside ok. By the time we had a clear night I had forgotten that I had done it and spent an hour wondering why the Asiair would not platesolve anything. Eventually I made the guide camera the main camera and went to Rigel, platesolved  ok, then switched back to the main camera and saw the problem, got it focussed and all was ok. What a waste of the first clear night in weeks.

  4. Thanks again for the welcome.

I've been wondering about a local club, possibly Reading, so will look into that.

I'm based in Bracknell also, so we might bump into each other.

  5. I thought I should sign up having been visiting the site for some time and picking up many tips.

I have always been interested in Astronomy and bought a Tasco 4.5 inch reflector around 30 years ago which I used for a couple of years with my young son. I made the mistake of leaving it set up in the garage and one afternoon he brought some school friends home to see it and it got knocked over and fell on the eyepiece, (my fault, it was probably not balanced well enough) so that curtailed things until I retired a couple of years ago when I got a GEM28 and an ST80, more recently I've got a Stella Mira 90 and an ASiAir which has been a game changer for me. I set it up with a mini guide camera and scope which centres targets in the eyepiece every time, I then got a ZWO 585 camera which has been put to good use as conditions allow. I just have to improve my processing skills now.

    Hope to keep in touch.
