  1. I do whole heartedly agree with all recommends to use offset , if the ota came with an aperature cap then likey it will have an offset cover already.

My small z130 has the offset aperatue cap though for white light I use a achromat.

I answered though as that is what Stephen  enquired about.

  2.  Five different gadgets can be used for  activation after that one has to contact Celestron to get hopefully , a new activation code.

I bought a used Starsense lt100az    locally on Ebay and only one activation code was used up, luckily for me the original buyer although activated it with his phone and email didn't register his product with Celestron HQ .  So I did and it looks now like I am the original owner and I get the odd email now from Celestron regarding tech news etc , etc.

of course all these names are utterly meangless and are just run by charlatans to get money from gullible people.

Very true , money for old rope.

The IAU have  id'd all the known  stars and each has a HD number assigned.

With so many charlatans taking peoples money any one star could have more then one so called owner ( of course they never own the star and it is all just a bit of nonsense).

  4. As per usual which  has been the format for this year, most nights that  I work  my night shift  the skies decide to be nice and hospitable for viewing.  Can be annoying as I set off at 19.30hrs to see no or little cloud .  This morning I returned as per normal around 03.40 hrs to some  still nice clear skies albeit 8c outside the little wind chill feeling a damn lot colder.

Managed an hour and a half before dawn brigthened up the   LP skies here too much, around here one doesn't see too many stars bar the brighter usual ones but at least the F11 102ed brings the night sky alive with the mutitudes of stars the LP disguises.  At least  the ever  growing bright moon was to the west and obscured for the most part by trees and lower on the horizon. Had the new to me SLV 12mm to give first light to and some more light time for the SV215 zoom, UMA,  Boo  & Dra at this time of the morning and year are  all  overhead at or near zenith so were  ideal subjects to spend the  time on.  320x on some targets with the zoom  were  excellant and resulted in  beautiful clean defractionless pin point stars.  Though not very hard I do like time on Mizar & Alcor, here though Alcor isn't visible to my naked eye.

  5. Whilst checking out first light with the SLV early morning before dawn  , I also had the 3 - 8 out on the same stars .  In my  LP B6  bording B7 area I had excellent viewing at 320x on Mizar /Alcor and other in UMA with pin point star views.

  6. Had first light with the 12mm SLV this morning before dawn ( I hope Franklin doesn't regret selling it)   and my first impression is Oh My ,quite an awesome ep despite only being 50 degrees fov.

Sharp,  clear and fantastic on the stars at 93x with my F11 102ed. As goes with the territory on these slow fracs the stars are pin point with no defraction spikes.   Though I don't need a 25mm , I may still try and find one .

Later this morning  I needed to realign my Starsense /phone unit and   used  it to home in on a pylon for the realign, boy in day light it is knocking the spots off my Xcel lx's in clarity. Not only could I see the paint layers where they are peeling off but clear as if I were in eyeball contact I could see the White grease slathered over nuts and bolts holding the steel together.

  7. Yes it is   Loius, 18mm Delite's  are £265/ $335 here in the UK  where as the Sv190  18mm uff can be had for £52/$66  (which I paid) in the winter /new year period  on AliExp.

Buying via AliExp is all about timing and choosing the sales /offer periods for the real value in price.

Like wise with the SV215 at £75/$95.

Yet the UFF 24mm is not a bargain and the Flo priced Stellamyra 24mm uff is cheaper.
