  1. Hi I have just purchased a optolong filter for my canon 6d I have some questions about the installation I know you have to enable mirror lock up and then disable it when installed but do you have to shoot in live view or can you come out of live view when shooting as the canon 6d has a pink light that gets emitted across the sensor wen it’s been modified when shooting in live view

and a question about removing the filter I’ve seen people remove it and the mirror comes down could you turn mirror lock up back on to remove it so it doesn’t go down as the filter is being removed

and when I turn the camera off with the filter in should I turn the camera back on enable mirror lock up and remove the filter so the mirror doesn’t fall as I’m removing the filter

    thanks

    Hi

There's quite a bit of chromatism emphasising any reflection from the lens surfaces, shown mostly in the red, less so in green and almost flat in blue. Over full frame, tilt is critical, especially in a lens with 17 elements (34 glass surfaces).

If you have another eos adapter e.g. from another Tamron, I'd try that first.

Along with a shorter focal length at say f8,  I'm sure a decent vset of calibration frames would go a long way to help in processing.

Or, as you have what looks like very good data anyway, just go ahead. I'd put good money on a stack of those images making for a stunning shot.

    Cheers and HTH

Thanks for your help I appreciate it

i believe that the reflection in the center is a ir light inside the lens that’s what others have told me and with my camera being modified it picks up on it

and just a question what is tilt

  3. These were shot in raw with a custom white balance they were converted to jpgs when I uploaded them when I was testing the camera i covered  the led on the side of the camera next to the sd card and covered the red light on my intervalometer and this still happened they are also not shot in live view and this doesn’t happen with other lenses so I think the Tamron 70-300 has a ir light source inside it

  4. Hi there look for some help with my canon 6d it has been modified by astrononmiser ha modified I’m a wide angle Astrophotography guy most of the time but I wanted to capture a shot of comet/2022e 3 the only longer lens I have is a Tamron 70-300 f4-5.6 however something weird was going on the more I zoomed in the of a light leak I got it’s a c shaped purple pink I know that Astro modified 6d have a light leak in live view so it wasn’t that then I tested inside a dark room with the lens cap on and zoomed out two 70mm it’s a dark image as expected but wen I zoom to 300 there’s a massive pink light leak so my guess is it’s a lens issue I haven’t had this on any other lens for Astrophotography all my other lenses are primes so maybe it’s a zoom lens issue but it get worse the closer you get to 300mm
