  1. In the startrails you mean? No, definitely not at that angle. We have a couple of big streetlights out the front - i.e. facing south where the planets are visible - so I suspect that might wash out the image completely. That said, you never know until you try! If you're interested though I did post some planetary pics here (he says, hoping the link works 😉)
  2. New to the forum, astronomy and astrophotography but I've been reading loads and getting my head round lucky imaging and working with the equipment I have: SkyWatcher 900mm/70mm refractor EQ1 manual mount Nikon D5500 & Svbony eyepiece projection adapter BackyardNikon, Autostakkert! and Registax I was quite chuffed when this shot of Jupiter popped out of the fuzzy and wobbly video I took on the camera (hadn't found BYN at this point!): I had another go a couple of days later once I'd found BYN (not sure why the colour changed): And I was really pleased to get a bit of detail on Saturn (if you look close enough and squint!): I've now got hold of a Canon 450D which might be better for lucky imaging and 1:1 pixel resolution, though I've yet to try it. From what I gathered so far from another forum I might not expect much more from this scope and achromatic refractors suffer from chromatic aberration so there's not much I can do to fix the colour in post-processing. I'm already looking seriously at a SkyWatcher 150PDS on (probably) and EQ5 mount, and probably driven - but I'd like to see this setup or something similar before I part with my hard-earned, just to make sure. In the meantime I'll keep practicing with what I have (plus the kids seem to enjoy driving BYN for me!😂)
  3. New to the forum, to astronomy and astrophotography but I've been having a go at various things whenever I get the opportunity. Here's an initial go at some startrails in the back garden: Nikon D5500, 140 x 30s exposures, processed in Sequator and then simply a filter in Google photos which brightened it a little. Quite please with the effect, I just need to plan my composition a little more!
  4. Hi All, I've been dipping in and out of astronomy over the last couple of years - turns out it involves a lot less washing up than homebrewing! 😁 Just recently I've been getting more into it again as I've started to get my head around planetary astrophotography & lucky imaging, and also started experimenting with star trails photography - will post up some pics somewhere more appropriate. Quite basic equipment so far: SkyWatcher 900mm/70mm refractor EQ1 mount Nikon D5500 & Svbony eyepiece projection adapter Looking to upgrade to a 150mm Newtonian and more substantial EQ mount but trying to get a look at one first before I part with my hard-earned. Also got a small-ish but decent pair of binoculars which are surprisingly handy! I've also picked up a used Canon 450D which although older might be better than the Nikon for lucky imaging, but not had a chance to try it yet. Interested to try my hand at a bit of everything, it planets, deep sky, visual observing or photography - all has its own appeal! Cheers!
