When the skies clear I'll give your suggestions a try and report back.
So, after several weeks of cloudy nights with the few clear nights coinciding with me being struck down with COVID, I've finally managed (with your help) to come to a working solution.
I connected the mount to AAP as "Alt/Az wedge" which enabled the slewing to work correctly but it would not track.
The only way I've found to overcome this is to align the mount using SynScan, enable tracking and use this to slew to target. I then go into the AAP to plate solve to centre the target. Once that's done, back to Synscan and hit point and track. It's a bit of a pain but seems to work ok.
Now to get guiding working!

The controllers are independent of each other, so if you switch controller you start again with alignment, etc.
Thanks adjyj1, that makes sense.

Hi everyone,
New to this forum and have found this thread an excellent resource.
I have recently bought an asiair plus to use with my az-gti in alt az mode but have had trouble with alignment. I perform 2 star alignment through the Synscan app which works fine. Then in the asiair app (connected as Eq mod mount), I select a target and it slews far away from where I want it. On checking the RA/Dec co-ordinates between each app they don't match, so it seems to be a problem syncing between the apps. Any ideas on how to resolve this?
Attached pic of M51 taken after I'd given up and gone back to Sharpcap.
Taken with an Evostar 72ed, 64x30s frames, no calibrations (it was late and I was cold!)

Hi Lee,
I was thinking it was just me! I can't see any setting for tracking when the mount is connected as alt/az wedge.
I've resolved all the problems by buying an eq wedge and updating the firmware. Took advantage of the wonderfully clear skies last night to take the set-up for a spin and it all worked. Polar Alignment, slewing, plate solving, even got auto guiding working (I need a bit of practice to adjust the settings on this) but it was so straight forward and way less painful.
If you've not got a eq wedge, I'd highly recommend it. Way cheaper than an eq mount!
